We are very proud of our children at Highworth School and we were delighted that four of our children were selected by the English Leads of the Chiltern Area Partnership for their writing about the Royal Wedding. The winning children enjoyed an afternoon at Holmer Green School and met the Town Crier of Beaconsfield, Dick Smith, who announced the winners of the competition in a very loud, traditional way!
Mr Smith was very impressed by the standard of writing from our children and said that the Queen herself would enjoy reading their work too! Mr Smith explained that he has met most of the Royal family, including the Queen, who presented him with her ‘personal’ solid silver ‘Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller’ metal (as pointed to in the picture).
All of our winners have received a special certificate and book voucher prize for their efforts too. Thank you to all the English Leads of the Children Area Partnership and Tracey Marshall who has led the group this year.
